Switching Edition from Desktop to Server

asked 2015-12-23 03:02:22 -0500

Hi there

Two questions:

  1. Is there a way to determine which version of Fedora I am using? (Server, Cloud, Desktop)
  2. Can I switch from one edition to another?

Thanks for answers

You can use dnf group list -v to list all available and installed package groups:

Available environment groups:
   Minimal Install (minimal-environment)
   Fedora Server (server-product-environment)
   Fedora Workstation (workstation-product-environment)
   Fedora Cloud Server (cloud-server-environment)

and install them using sudo dnf group install "group name".

@vtrefny that should be: sudo dnf groupinstall "group name"

Both commands work (at least on Fedora 23).
