Fedora 16 x86_64 SATA link down errors

I'm seeing a set of SATA Link down errors on boot:

The "SATA link down" messages are completely normal. They indicate that nothing is connected to that SATA port.

As far as the JMicron problem, it could be a kernel bug. I suggest you post your hardware specs (lspci, etc) as a bug at https://bugzilla.redhat.com against the kernel package.

If you do not even use the ports the JMicron chip provides, then maybe your BIOS has a bug. Can you switch the JMicron chip between "IDE" and "AHCI" modes? Tried either? Updated your BIOS?

How sure are you about the SATA link msg? I DO have drives attached in an external enclosure... Startech SATDOCK4U3E (original 2012 vintage). and yes, it does have a JMicron controller.
