How do I blacklist the ati gpu on my HP dv6t. The laptop has switchable graphics, but under linux I only want the Intel integrated graphics to be utilized for power saving reasons. Again, I don't need or want the ability to switch, I only want the intel chip.

You can append rd.blacklist=radeon to the kernel line in your grub.conf configuration.

Youc an also try to disable the discrete card using vgaswitcheroo using the following command (as root):

echo DIGD > /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch

And restart X or re-login.

If /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch is not present, your setup is probably not supported by vgaswitcheroo.

I don't think you can do that. You can stop the device from from being used but I don't think you can stop plugged in devices from consuming power unless you disable them from BIOS. You could however download the drivers for the ati card and power it to the lowest clock+fan speed.

I can't find /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch on my system.
