Hello

I have an issue to output display on my secondary screen (Dell 22"), on the HDMI output from my laptop.

The HDMI output is correctly detected:

Both outputs (VGA and HDMI) are connected from my laptop to the screen, via a VGA cable or an HDMI cable to the DVI input of the screen with a DVI/HDMI adapter

Disconnecting the HDMI cable brings the signal failure on the screen, meaning that electrical signal is detected

Disconnecting the VGA cable from the laptop, and forcing the entry to Digital on the screen does not give more luck

In the Gnome Display control panel, secondary screen is correctly detected.

I've tried several commands from xrandr such as

$ xrandr --output HDMI1 --same-as VGA1

Maybe there is something more to configure in the Xorg configuration files but I don't know much :-(

I'm using the official nVidia drivers, and not nouveau. I have booted a Live Workstation without more success.

Any help would be very appreciated ! Thanks

EDIT 04/12/2015: the failure reason was the (cheap) DVI dapater which was hard to be put correctly, even when having the feeling it was ! Now it's work perfectly.

I'm by no means an expert, so I won't be much help other than to say that I didn't have to do anything special to get my HDMI working "out of the box" with whatever I plug it into. Of course, I'm using built-in Intel graphics and not an Nvidia card.

Just in case you haven't already, maybe you could check the journal (using the journalctl command) to see if there's any corresponding info that may help you out. Feel free to post whatever you find here so the experts can help you out.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for your feedback. It's now closed. While checking with another laptop, I've discovered that the (cheap) DVI adapter was hard to be put correctly in place...Now, it's Ok !! I will close the bug. Sorry for this.
