I'am using Windows 7 genuine on my laptop and want to install fedora as optional boot. I found that Easy BCD is a software which does it but the software is paid. Is there any software which is freeware to do the dual boot menu(while system starts)

You just need to install Fedora onto an HDD partition and GRUB should do everything for you. During the Graphical installation, you just have to choose "Create custom layout" or "Shrink Current System" based on what you want to do. You will have a screen like this at the boot: http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/5821/grub500x328.jpg

I hope this helps
