Long story short:

I want to share a folder on my fedora 23 desktop over wifi with my ipad air and im absolutely clueless of how to do it. If you know how to do that easily and quickly, then you can just stop here and give an answer.

Long story: Okay, so i have tried some things but it just doesnt work. The first thing i tried was to enable file sharing through the settings and i got to the point where it would tell me to access files over: "dav://fabians-phenom.local" (i would have given you a picture but the website didnt allow me to do so)

so i have tried to access it over my ipad but it prompted me with the request of a username and password and i just knew a password but no username. (maybe i have used the programm wrong, i am using "file explorer" and i tried it with saying that im trying to enter a linux system and giving it the hostname: "dav://fabians-phenom" and the dns domain "local")

so i didnt know how to find out what the username is called and i stopped and tried installing and using samba. i have followed the instructions on this website:

i couldnt use mkdir /home/share because it already existed.

but i got to the point where i was accessing the file and changing stuff, but my terminal didnt show me lines + i didnt know how to save my changes, so everything i did seamed useless.

and now i am here, because i dont know what i could try more

is there anyone of you who could help me with this?

You can make an ftp server to share the file to your iPad. (it is the easiest and you can acces it from any device on your network just make sure your iPad is connected to the same one)

On your iPad, download an ftp client

On fedora, use this: to help you make an ftp server.
