After having searched Google I turn directly to Fedora community since yum is a key part of our distro. I was not able to find any information if there was any project which aim has been to port yum to Python 3.x.

YumFuture site just placed support for Python 3 in long term goals.

Is there a problem with it being written in Python 2?

Starting today DNF now builds with python3 subpackage too (see the DNF upstream commit 264d9269b3ba1d7a92767256cdaa8bc322d6e284)
