EDIT I am still looking for a solution to search for and through my emails stored in Thunderbird. Anyone having any luck with this??

I would like to have tracker indexed my emails, so that I can use the Gnome search field to people, certain emails, and content from emails that I fetch and managed with Thunderbird. (If this is possible with another client like Evolution, I would consider changing over since I don't really like TB. Just using it because I am using it forever).

Interesting question! Turns out there's a Tracker plugin for Thunderbird. I don't see it listed on , but you can install it from dnf: sudo dnf install tracker-thunderbird-plugin.

There was also a plugin for Evolution, but I can't find any RPMs built after Fedora 17.

You may get more specific help from the Tracker developers. Their documentation for the Thunderbird plugin is a little sparse, but it seems like it should "just work." Their GNOME Project page has links to their IRC and mailing list.

...I imagine adding email indexing might slow down all your GNOME Shell Overview searches. depending on the volume of email you have archived on your system. Let us know how it works for you.

Hi Chromosome, Thanks for your answer. I installed the plugin this morning and had the computer up and running all day but unfortunately this plugin doesn't seem to work. Gnome search does not include anything from my emails. I guess, I have to ask the devs at IRC or maybe mailing list. What I have noticed though is that my Thunderbird is sometimes even slower/less responsive that it used to be.

Have you had any luck yet?

Hi, I posted my situation with a few questions two times on the IRC channel #tracker without any response, and also wrote to the mailing list. No responses so far.

We should this plugin get to work! (Even the iphone with iOS is browsing through all email when putting a term in the search field which I found very convenient).

Too bad. Maybe the project development is inactive?

The only other thing I can think of is file a bug report at the GNOME Bugzilla and hope someone there notices the problem.

If that doesn't get a response, try the Fedora Bugzilla.

Has anyone succeeded with this? Not working for me...
