Is this a portable, or desktop computer? If it's portable, does it behave the same on battery as it does when running on mains (AC) power? ...

In my case, when it goes to sleep, I have to press "enter" to wake it!

Install lshw: yum install lshw; Then run following command as root: lshw -class video and add its output to your post (=update your post); Plus, add your fedora version and the kernel number.

I had the same problem, I have a Intel graphics card and solved the problem by installing the drivers from this site:

I have the same issue in F20. I also have had it occur whilst switching VTs. Very frustrating. I have an nvidia GTX460 with the proprietary drivers. Was fine until F19 3.12 kernel update.

It may be a problem with the drivers. You should update yours.

I also had this issue & it appears to be driver related. Removing my wireless network card solved this issue.
