Heating and draining battery while suspended

I think that my Ubuntu is going to standby instead of suspending to ram. If I suspend using Fedora the laptop turns the fans off and turns on the led that indicates that it is not on. However, it still heats and waste 20% of the battery per hour. There is a little noise coming inside of it also that seems like a coil whine. None of these happen on windows, the battery waste is very low and it does not heat. So, I guess the windows is going to S3 state and Fedora is on s1.

In order to help you, we'll need some more info: what version of Fedora are you running, is it a 32 or 64-bit system and what make and model of laptop are you using. Please edit your post to add this, instead of using up the one answer you get per question just for that.

This is still an issue and seems to be related to the dedicated GPU which will be turned on before the computer suspends. There is a helpful discussion in the bumblebee project where excatly these symptoms are described. See here
