Network Interface Down Upon Restart

I am currently using Fedora 15 to set up a beowulf cluster using LAM. I have it installed on a computer using the base system option within the installer. I have set a static IP for it, but upon reboot/reconnection of the cable, the IP address disappears and the the interface is down and must be brought up by ifconfig. I have tried setting the address by both ifconfig and ip addr, both with the same result. I have also used chkconfig to ensure that the network service is active at level 3 and have tried disabling NetworkManager.service. I would assume that running updates would clear this bug, if it is one, but I currently do not have the enough wireless data as of current. If this is a bug fixed by updates, recommendations on package updates would be welcomed.

If would recommend checking /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 for a line that reads ONBOOT=. Make sure it is set to ONBOOT="yes".
