I tried to see if it will change but after updates but.... no changes. I am new to fedora! I am mainly using it to train and become better in web - app development. I have a Compaq 6910p resolution 1280 x 800 ( WXGA ) GRaphics Intel GMA 695. Can I force change the resolution to 1280 x800?

What resolution do you get, and how have you tried to change it?

Firstly, you need to now the Id of your output (screen) with

xrandr -q | grep connected

You will see something like

eDP1 connected primary 2880x1620+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 340mm x 190mm

eDP1 is your output.

Modify from manpage of xrandr, to Forces to use a 1024x768 mode on an output called eDP1:

xrandr --newmode "mymode" 63.50 1024 1072 1176 1328 768 771 775 798 -hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode eDP1 mymode
xrandr --output eDP1 --mode mymode

You don't need sudo to run xrandr.

@dechen: firstly, the goal of JonthueM87 is a resolution of 1280 x 800, not 1024x768. Secondly, could you be more explicit please: I imagine "63.50" is the desired frequency, but what are "1072 1176 1328" and "771 775 798"?
