Fedora 17 not connecting to internet and not showing windows 8 in GRUB menu.
Hello all, after finally getting a Linux distro installed on my UEFI machine, I am having some issues. First off, in the beggining GRUB menu, my windows 8 does not show up, only my Fedora Linux install. I would like to have the option to boot into whichever OS i'd like. Also, when I am in Fedora, neither my wired nor my wireless internet works. When i use lspci in the terminal my network device is "Intel Corporation Device 0887 (rev c4)", i found the drivers needed on the internet and downloaded them from my laptop which has an internet connection. I put the files on a USB drive then plugged it into my fedora pc and when i tried to add the files to my /lib/firmware but i get an error saying that i dont have permission to extract the files. I read somewhere that i May need to transfer them while I'm in a boot terminal, but i can only access a root terminal if i boot fedora in recovery mode. If anyone could please respond that would be great as i really need to get a linux install up and running on my computer. Thanks!
What microsoft has done is require a certificate for your window system that would allow dual boot. Fedora 17 is pre UEFI boot and cannot coexist with Windows. You may be able to run Fedora 17 if somehow you get Windows to start it up
