Read and subscribe to bug 702435.

It seems that developers prefer keeping the current setup (default home page is the overview of more visited websites) and not adding any option in the browser preferences, but they want to add a GSetting for a customized home page.

Some of the comments are quite alienating: "The home page concept is very last-century, the masses use search engines to remember their favorite sites for them anyway." "...for users who are stuck in the 1990s and will set this preference because they just want a homepage back."
