Without mate-settings-daemon running in the background the Mate user experience is curtailed - half the options in the Control Centre do not work at all, and special keys (volume control, email buttons, etc.) on modern keyboards don't work. There will be other things too.

I have a fresh clean Fedora 22 install in which the mate-settings-daemon isn't working properly. It fails to launch, but does not prevent the Mate desktop appearing, so at least the computer is usable. Starting the daemon by hand produces this output:

[user@local ~]$ /usr/libexec/mate-settings-daemon
MateDesktop:ERROR:mate-rr-config.c:661:mate_rr_config_load_current: assertion failed: (mate_rr_config_match (config, config))
Aborted (core dumped)

I don't have the source code to hand otherwise I'd look into this more deeply. Does anyone have any experience with this package that can point out what the problem is? Or even if you've got the source for the Mate desktop to hand and can say why this assertion happens? It's likely to be something stupid in my config, as nobody else is asking about this on the entire Internet.
