How do I control the brightness on my HP tm2 with Intel graphics?

I have an HP Touchsmart tm2-1070ca It's running F22 at the moment. It works quite well. The most notable thing that doesn't work is the backlight / brightness control. Regardless of the manner >I try to control it (on-screen, fn-f2/f3) the indicator says it's working but the brightness doesn't actually change.

I think this is the relevant hardware info via lspci:

Try this

look for this file in the below location and edit it. If there isn't such a file, create one!

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/00-backlight.conf

Section "Device"
  Identifier "Intel Graphics"
  Driver "intel"
Bus ID "PCI:0:2:0" # Verify this!
  Option "Backlight" "Intel_backlight"
EndSection

The above values can be found from your /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Restart your machine.

Unexpectedly, I don't have a /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Also, should /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/00-keyboard.conf be the file I edit? Why would the keyboard file contain backlight controls?

I tried it regardless, and Xorg would not start. I removed the lines and Xorg works again.

Dont you have any Xorg file under /var/log ?

Any file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d that ends with .conf will be loaded as part of the configuration. By convention, you'd make each independent group of settings one distinct file, but you don't have to.
