After a bit of research, it does not seem that there is a direct open source alternative to Garden CAD available in Fedora.

FreeCAD is often stated as the best Open Source CAD software, and is available in Fedora. Just do a:

sudo yum install freecad

to Install it. If you want to play with 3D modelling a bit more, you could always try out Blender, the 3D animation and modelling tool. It has a steep learning curve, but once you master it, it is very powerful. Install it with:

sudo yum install blender

Also, if you really want to use Google SketchUp, it sounds like it will work under WINE. If you own Garden CAD, you can always try to run it in WINE as well.

For some more information, try this page that lists a bunch of Open Source CAD options.

Hi, one Alternative is Draftsight

Draftsight is not available in fedora repository as it is not open source but their website has a .rpm package. So download and use for individuals is free and installation is simple. for activation you just have to provide your email address.

A very basic cad software is

yum install qcad

.

But you will find draftsight more convinient.
