How do I get Catalyst from RPMFusion to work with Steam/32bit games?

I installed Catalyst via the RPMFusion nonfree-repo for Fedora 21 on my Fedora 22 machine with an R9 280X. Here are the commands I used:

dnf install akmods kernel-devel
dnf --releasever 21 install akmod-catalyst

(According to this, it should work and otherwise I have no real problems)

Though when starting Steam I get "OpenGL GLX context is not using direct rendering, which may cause performance problems."

So I googled a bit and read from similiar problems with Nvidia GPUs, so I followed the advice the advice and installed the i686 version with this command:

dnf install xorg-x11-drv-catalyst-libs.i686

But even though it should work - Steam is a 32bit application and should just require the multilib version - it still showed the error and I couldn't start games

I even tried the script here and it didn't work

Did you try uninstalling the package, rebooting, and reinstalling? I don't use the RPMFusion package, but I do run the driver, and when I run into that error from Steam it's typically because of Mesa package upgrades or some other package upgrades on which the driver depends. I resolve the issue with a reinstallation.

@bitwiseoperator yeah, but it didn't work. Now I can't even boot my PC with Catalyst, because LightDM crashes instantly :/

And the installation still proceeds without any errors? Do you have any journal output regarding the LightDM crash?
