I've installed F17 on a desktop thats using this card:

The problems i'm having is with the log-in screen looks 'offscreen' (bigger than monitor display area and with bad resolution). Also, once i login the sames happens until i go to display Settings and change my resolution 1366x768 (when by default is 1368x1024).

Any ideas if i can install different drivers, or proprietary to imporove my experience. With the resolution change my desktop looks usable but still the resolution doesn't looks right in quality, also my login is just bad.

Thanks for any tips

Fedora 17 is EOL and therefore please install Fedora 19 to get security updates. Which CPU do you use with this motherboard??

Looks like the embedded GPU on that motherboard is an Intel chipset, which means the driver in Fedora is the only one. Even "better" is that because the GPU is powered by the CPU, the specific type (and performance) of the device is tied to which CPU you put in that motherboard.

It might be possible to troubleshoot this further if we knew the exact video device (look for the "VGA compatible controller" in the output from the "lspci" command) and the exact type of monitor you're using... but then again, it might just be that the Intel video chipset in that mainboard is underpowered.

The obvious workaround is to buy (and use) a dedicated graphics card from either AMD or NVIDIA.
