Launcher wont show anything graphical

asked 2015-05-10 11:42:52 -0500

I just compiled and made Unreal Engine launch trough the terminal with the following command: /home/scream-junkie/.UnrealEngine/Engine/Binaries/Linux/UE4Editor

All is good, it runs the program and I can play virtual god..

However, when I try to make a simple shortcut on my desktop:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=UnrealEngine
Comment=Application for game editing by Epic games
Exec=/home/scream-junkie/.UnrealEngine/Engine/Binaries/Linux/UE4Editor
Icon=/home/scream-junkie/.UnrealEngine/icon.png
Terminal=true
Type=Application
Categories=Game;IDE;Programming;

it seems to run from the terminal that poops up, but no graphical elements are shown as it does when I run it from the terminal. Tried to google this, but I can't find anything that helps. Anyone that can break this down for me?

If I create a bash script however and run that, then it works just fine :D Still would like to solve the issue at hand...

Have you tried using Terminal=false?

Yes, but I want the terminal to open with this software as it's pretty buggy. Terminal=false wont solve the problem.

This .desktop file works for me. Make sure to have xterm installed. My bash script (rdp.sh) wasn't running because I forgot it asks for a password then starts xfreerdp. My xterm stays running until xfreerdp finally exits.
