Does this work sudo dnf update -y

hmaarrfk gravatar imagehmaarrfk ( 2015-04-20 16:26:12 -0500 )edit

The info came from a screen boxed message after allowing an OS update recommended by the (!) icon 9bottom right screen)

An update was not signed in the correct way. Detailed errors from the package manager follow:

failed to lookup digest in keyring

This question should have a clearer tilte. E.g. "Update fails - Failed to lookup digest in keyring"

I came across your question when faced the same issue. Running sudo dnf update -y command revealed that the actual error was

Error: Public key for google-chrome-stable-43.0.2357.81-1.x86_64.rpm is not installed

I've just removed Google Chrome and reran the command. The update completed just fine.

You don't have to remove Chrome - just exclude it from the update:

sudo dnf update --exclude=google*

If it is really Google Chrome giving him this error than proper way to resolve it would be to import Google public key as noted on their webpage:

sudo rpm --import

Thank you. This worked for me.

That wget didn't work for me, but this did:

sudo rpm --import

Sure, because it looks like they changed URL ;-)

Like previous answer noted, run update from the terminal to get the actual error. I had the same problem than the previous answer (problem with Google Chrome). However, you do not need to completely remove the problematic package, you can just exclude the problematic package from the update like this:

sudo dnf update --exclude=PACKAGE_NAME

For example, if google chrome is causing the problem, you can run:

sudo dnf update --exclude=google*

And in case you have the same problem - problem with Google Chrome keys - you can find the solution here (and don't have to exclude the package):

I ran the command but the list of programs to be removed is too large, I proceed?
