New technology hardware, DDR4, ASRock Extreme4.... Does it run Fedora 21?

asked 2015-04-14 08:13:20 -0500

I thinking of buying a new "super" computer. I'm wondering if it is supported in Linux and if I can run Fedora 21 on it.

Here is the hardware:

ASRock X99 Extreme4
Intel Core i7-5960X
DDR4 32GB (2 * 16) (8 slot= Max 128GB)

Can I run Fedora on this?

It's commodity x86 hardware, I'd be very surprised if it didn't run Fedora.

This is a "super" computer indeed! I can't even imagine what one would do with it.

it looks like everything is Linux compatible. Chipset is Intel X99 which is supported. (I quickly checked specifications here). The three components that you mention is pure performance but still standard hardware/chips - should work...

Did you come across this test of an ASRock X99 Extreme 3 with i7-5960X?

@Florian Thanks for the answer. Yes I came across that test. Pretty cool.
