I'm trying to install mysql to use with OTRS 4.0.7 on Fedora 21 installed on vbox. after I install mysql with yum -y install mysql-serverand then go to start it and I get the error a dependency job for mysqld.service failed. See 'journal -xe' for details.

After running systemctl -l status mysqld.service. It tells me Dependency failed for MySQL compatibility service (another name for mariadb.service; you should use mariadb.service instead)

But that just gives me the same error for mariadb a dependency job for mariadb.service failed. See 'journal -xe' for details.

How do I get mysql or mariadb to start?

It should work out of the box, try reinstalling the system, maybe something went wrong!

Please review if you had a previously installed MariaDB. If so, I suggest to make a clean install of one of them.
