Is it possible to upgrade Fedora 21 Workstation to the beta version of 22? If that's the case, how? Or do I have to wait until the stable version has been released?

Well, the F22 Beta, has not yet been released (due on mid April). We're still on F22 Alpha.

I think to upgrade right now to F22 Alpha, the only method is the yum command line (see here). Either there is no fedup available or it is not yet fully tested. That's why the recommended method to upgrade to F22 Alpha is the yum method. Instructions for the general upgrading process and for the yum method are here:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upgrading

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upgrading_Fedora_using_yum

The fedup method is a beta release blocker. Thus, by the beta release, it will have been fully tested. If you decide to wait until the beta release, here are the instructions for the fedup method:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedUp

If you upgrade to either the Alpha or Beta versions, you don't need to do anything special to upgrade to the stable release. According to this, all you need to do is sudo yum update.
