It definitely is a nouveau problem. The error in VLC points to that : nvc0_screen_create:682 - Error allocating PGRAPH context for M2MF: -16

Further i took the extreme step of reinstalling Fedora. Things are OK if I don't update . On update , it has started crashing all over again. On booting ,the last line of booting shows nouveau error which does not show in in fresh fedora 21 installation without updates .. But it seems nobody else is having this problem as i did not notice any mention of it on the forum. VLC and SMplayer(Mplayer based) , ffmpeg are crashing. If I disable nouveau in the kernel by nouveau.modeset=0 rd.driver.blacklist=nouveau , everything works fine on the integrated Haswell graphics.

This seems like a nouveaou problem.

You may try to reinstall mesa and nouveaou packages if there is not something broken, check

yum history

and verify with transaction update mesa or nouvea.

Try to undo this transaction if this is not too deep in the chain or try do "downgrade" the packages. If confirmet file a bug report.
