I'm running Fedora 21 with GNOME 3.14.8. Whenever I lock the system (either from the top menu or using the Super + L keyboard shortcut), the lock screen will appear for only a split second before the display turns off. The system does NOT sleep/suspend/hibernate/etc., the display just turns off. I would like to be able to lock the system WITHOUT the display turning off (i.e. have the lock screen be visible on the monitor). How do I go about doing this?

Thanks

Hi, I am having the SAME problem with a fresh installation of Fedora 25 with GNOME. Tried the solution below, to no avail. How can I really fix this? Thanks.

Turn off power option

From Settings > Power > Blank Screen choose Never

Check Privacy

Settings > Privacy > Screen Lock choose a period of time that isn't Screen Turns Off

not true, screen still turns itself off! :) It's not well advertised but if you move the mouse as soon as the screen locks, the screen will stay on for the time set in the "Screen Turns Off" option. Here's a better explanation: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.c...

"When the screen locks (manually or automatically), blank the screen after 3 seconds. If the user moves the mouse at any time while the screen is locked (including those 3 seconds), wait "Blank screen after dim for" amount of time to blank it again."

I got the trick: Keep pressing Super + L more than one second, you can see a quite slight blink of the locked screen, then let out the L then Super key. WOW~ Yes! the lock-screen is being still there!

This is just because the screen comes on when any key is pressed. It isn't a trick :)

Well, it is a trick. It does the work, whatever the explanation.
