I have tried to install Fedora 21, and Fedora KDE on my laptop as a dual boot with Windows 8.1, and it keeps throwing warnings. I have been using Universal-USB-Installer- to put the iso on my usb for install (brand new flash drive). I tried to download the Fedora USB creator but Norton kept removing it because it kept saying it was infected.

Here are the warnings that it gives me when I try to boot from the usb. (sorry it won't let me upload a photo)

Starting Dracut Emergency Shell...

Warning: /dev/disk/by-label/Fedora-Live-KDE-x86_64-21-5 does not exist Warning: /dev/mapper/live-rw does not exist

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and how to get a successful dual boot with Windows 8.1 and Fedora?

Where are you trying to download the Fedora Live USB creator from? The official site is here: you should try this source only if the versions you're trying to access are causing you issues.

I think your problem is caused by a badly set-up USB, btw. If you have a CD writer you could try the network install ISO as an alternative, it's a smaller download than the Live CD, but you'll have to burn it to a CD to use it.

This problem comes from using the Universal USB Installer or similar tools. Follow the instructions at to create the USB stick using a direct write method.

I got the same issue, fedora 21 xfce desn't go further after the logo screen. I rather got the dracut command line. Trying to burn the iso with the liveusb-creator app doesn't help neither, any help, please??? I downloaded it as torrent iso file, my CHECKSUM is OK, so I got some lost (and disapointed). Thanks in advance!

If I recall correctly, the version of liveusb-creator currently available for Windows doesn't offer a direct write method. Please try one of the tools in the wiki page that uses a direct write method.
