Hi. I am using Fedora 20 and have messed up my desktop settings. I was playing around in command line and deleted my desktop folder thinking I could just make another (i am taking a command line class).

Well, now all my home folders show up on my desktop, and my icons on the file manager are jacked. The folders show up in file manager, but you click on them and they say it does not exist!

I know this is silly, and I didn't find it in the forums.

Thanks for you time! Highly appreciated.

You may not get the desktop folder icon but create a folder and name it desktop. open with gedit

then copy the pathname of the folder you just created.

edit the line

XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="(your pathname)/desktop"

It should probably work.
