Fedora 21: Steam update crashes session

Hey there,

Previous to yesterday, if I opened Steam and there was an update available, it would update, and then Steam would start up.

But since yesterday, a rather annoying bug has rendered it's ugly head. When I open Steam, the update widget appears, I quickly see it's borders crash, followed promptly by a Gnome gray screen saying that there has been a crash from which the system can't recover. I only have the option to logout and then when I login all is back to normal (until I start Steam that is).

I tried running Steam from the terminal to hopefully see some backtrace but no such luck, it just crashes with no error appearing before it does so.

I have Fedora 21 WS.

For what it's worth, I have an Optimus graphics card, but since that caused such frustration to get running and still didn't, I use pretty much vanilla, that is the Intel Ivybridge graphics with no Nvidia drivers installed.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be the issue, or how I would go about getting to a reason and potential fix? Thanks before hand.

Oh, and a very merry Christmas!
