BTW, why are you still using fedora 19.

Try fedora 21. It is so awesome. It include GNOME 3.14 and many other cool stuff. And it is fun to use, very stable. You will love it.

First update and make sure everything is up to date. use sudo yum update to update fedora.

If it cannot retrieve metalink while updating, it could be an issue with your internet connection. Please check if your computer is connected to internet and try again.

Next you may have to install a 3rd party repository to get VLC. In order to install RPMfusion repo, use following command. Please note that these are 3rd party repo.

su -c 'yum localinstall --nogpgcheck http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm'

Now you can install vlc. just type, sudo yum install vlc in terminal.

If you want to play files like mp4, you may need few other plugins.

yum install gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-bad-free-extras gstreamer-plugins-bad-nonfree gstreamer-plugins-ugly gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer1-libav gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free-extras gstreamer1-plugins-bad-freeworld gstreamer1-plugins-base-tools updates gstreamer1-plugins-good-extras gstreamer1-plugins-ugly gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free gstreamer1-plugins-good gstreamer1-plugins-base gstreamer1

yum install x264

BTW, why are you still using fedora 19. Try fedora 21. It is so awesome. It include GNOME 3.14 and many other cool stuff. And it is fun to use, very stable. You will love it.

You have to add the repositories.

su -c 'yum localinstall --nogpgcheck http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm'

Next, you can use the command line to install the program you want.
