Sony Vaio erratic mouse click problem on Fedora 21: how to fix?

Hi, I installed Fedora 21 yesterday, so far everything works fine except the mouse/touchpad.

When using the touchpad, the pointer sometimes becomes unresponsive or jumps around the screen. At the same time the left click becomes unresponsive to input, but continually clicks on whatever the cursor is held over. Using a usb mouse solves the pointer jumping problem, but the left click problem remains. The problem is intermittent, the pointer will work for a while, then the problem wil recur. Right click works fine. The scroller wheel works fine. Tapping the touchpad to click does not work while the problem is occuring.

I am using a sony vaio vgn-cs11s, synaptics toutchpad (software up to date), nvidia graphics card (possibly not installed), Gnome version 3.14.2.

I am familiar with basic terminal commands, but not sure what needs to be installed/ which logs to check etc. Let me know any more information that you need, i'm not sure what else would be useful.

Hi Andy,

I have been experiencing the same issue from F16 all the way through F20 (I haven't upgraded to F21 yet).

Today after reading your comments I decided enough was enough and removed the synaptic touchpad input driver. Although it now doesnt verticle scroll anymore, it also doesnt glitch. I might try to re-install it to see if it will correct itself, but this is the best this laptop has worked in a year.

I have an ASUS N53SV, just installed F21 and got that problem. But instead of removing touchpad driver, i installed BumbleBee (Nvidia Optimus Technology) and Nvidia proprietary Drivers.

That seemed to fix the problem.
