I just downloaded Fedora 20 x86_64-bit and would like to install Fedora, BUT ... The DVD does not load. All I get is a little white, blinking bar in the upper left corner. Starting the computer with another distribution, the DVD is NOT recognized and does nor run.

Is there anything I can do about that? Is the ISO maybe broken?? Thank you in advance. nyuwa

Do you see the initial boot screen (which allows you to select normal install method or other options)? If not, the problem could be corrupted ISO or faulty disk. Have you checked the sha256sum of ISO? (run sha256sum /path/to/Fedora/isofile.iso and compare the output with the expected one from Fedora website (verification section)).

Bad ISO most likely. Try downloading another from a different mirror. This happened to me once.

You could also try the smaller Network Install CD.

You can try another brand of DVD+-R. You can try alternative image burner software. You can try a lower burn speed. Don't forget to check the box for data verification.

Also go into BIOS and make sure that the first choice for boot is the DVD drive. (Remember F10 for save and exit. )

An older computer may require an i686 distro of fedora.
