I am scanning the available wifi and learning aircrack, airmon commands. output of iwconfig is ---

p1p1 no wireless extensions.

ppp0 no wireless extensions.

wlp7s0 IEEE 802.11abg ESSID:off/any
Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=200 dBm
Retry short limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Encryption key:off Power Management:off

lo no wireless extensions.

then I run the airmon command-

airmon-ng start wlp7s0 and the output comes

Found 4 processes that could cause trouble. If airodump-ng, aireplay-ng or airtun-ng stops working after a short period of time, you may want to kill (some of) them!

PID Name 464 avahi-daemon 470 avahi-daemon 557 NetworkManager 619 wpa_supplicant

Interface Chipset Driver

wlp7s0 Broadcom wl - [phy0]mon0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device

            (monitor mode enabled on mon0)

next I run the command airodump-ng mon0 and the output is -- Interface mon0: ioctl(SIOCGIFINDEX) failed: No such device

I don't understand what going wrong I had read about this on many website but I am not getting the proper output as discussed in those websites.

I had the same proble, nobody can explain that but I figured that by myself, first you have to take your network down :

ifconfig wlp7s0 down

Then you have to put it in monitor mode :

iwconfig wlp7s0 mode monitor

Then keep running airmon etc airodump and aircrack, regards.
