I would like to upgrade to fedora 20 but there's a hitch... 1. How to take backup of my current OS 2. Can I upgrade to fedora 20 along with the data in mariaDB? 3. There should be no harm to my data in such an upgrade.

So please explain me how to upgrade to fedora 20?

For 2. please see https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/9252/how-to-take-backup-of-my-sql-and-restore-in-fedora-linux/ . Backup the database and restore it on another Fedora target system first.

ok i did this

rpm --import https://fedoraproject.org/static/246110C1.txt

yum update yum

yum clean all

yum --releasever=20 distro-sync

but during the update/install part, I got disconnected with the internet. then I tried # yum-complete-transaction to accomplish failed transaction. It is not working. Also now I have duplicate files of fed19 & fed20. Any suggestion?

Also kernel is not updated. It is still using fed19 kernel. Anomaly: the version name is being shown as heisenbug. Why?
