I can not upgrade to a kernel above 3.15.10-201.fc20.x86_64 without experiencing random hardware "freezing".

I'd like to contribute my issue for tracking, but I don't know which logs I should be analyzing.

Any advise?

(on a side note, if I've patched bash, am I still exposed to shellshock?)

I mapped for SysRq key and even a System Request to kill all processes does not work. Also, Xorg.0.log(.old) does not show any errors or warnings.

More information: Got a few kernel panics and the following information I can ascertain:

CPU: 1 PID: 0 Comm: swapper/1 Tained: G C 3.16.3-200.fc20.x86

I am using the RTL8723AU driver (still considered staging)

Where can I get the whole log? I have only a photo of the panic...

Thank you for your input, but I feel like I need to know what the problem is before I report it.

Right now I have no clue why it locks up, I want to be thorough before attempting to submit a ticket.

try see if kernel oops with dmesg , cat /proc/interrupts (Spurious interrupts), cat /var/log/mcelog , locks up without Xorg running ? and /var/log/messages .

No, I can't say it's locked up in Xorg. Running as single user mode does not cause lock ups.

if its locking up, with the opensource Video drivers, use the Blob driverrs, that being from RPM Fusion . the lockup has been a problem for a long time. i get the problem myself an only real fix is to use he blob drivers, as the opensource crap has there Limitations on what they can do

I have Intel HD Graphics 4000 embedded.

you may wanna try the intel linux drivers, not the opensource crap, the ones intel has made a installer for

I feel obligated to point out that the default in-kernel drivers, which you refer to as opensource crap, are maintained by Intel, and are in fact the same drivers that Intel offers for download from their site (although perhaps a newer version.) Ergo, the "blob" from Intel's site is also open source, and today's "blob" is tomorrow's "opensource crap".
