Have you ever installed VirtualBox host extensions? You may need to update them after the VirtualBox main program update, otherwise VirtualBox will crash. In the Vbox main GUI, go to File -> Preferences -> Extensions, remove the old one and add the new host extension package. The host extension download link can be found in the page here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads . To quote that page:

Please install the extension pack with the same version as your installed version of VirtualBox!

After downloading and installing the extension pack with the right version number, restart your VM guest. It should boot OK.

If you've installed guest extensions in the VM, you may need to update them too.

Hope that helps.

Hi, this happens to me when I installed latest Vbox 4.3.16 , we need remove vbox kernel modules

rmmod vboxnetadp vboxnetflt vboxdrv

and

systemctl restart systemd-modules-load

to load kernel modules again , of course a reboot will do the same effect
