I decided to install Fedora 20 today. I installed using the Live installer from my USB drive. I managed to install it successfully. However, I cannot boot into Windows 8 partition, which was previously installed. I have checked using parted -l and it still shows the partition and all of the data is still there. It just isnt in the startup boot menu.

I am relatively new to Linux and after googling the issue, I am having trouble understanding what is the problem. My original intention was to dual boot Fedora and Windows 8, and I figured I could do so without having any issues. I was obviously wrong.

If anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated.

do sudo ls /boot/efi/EFI and see if your Microsoft files are still there. If not, you told the installer to overwrite them. If they are, you should be able to just choose Windows from the system firmware's boot menu.

They are not there :(. Is there any way that I can reboot into Windows 8 without deleting the data on the partition? Or rather, add the efi files using a Windows recovery disk?

Can you edit to show what is there, just to be sure?

I can't do that now, unfortunately. I've given up on fixing the issue and I'm considering formating the hard drive now. When I first installed Fedora I just let it install the default options, and I think thats what screwed it up. After running the Windows Recovery command prompt I tried to fix the bcd, and now I cant even boot into Fedora. I've decided to format as a result. Thank your help on this issue.
