Cherrypicking (thanks to @sideburns) from the Rawhide repository, first of all, is not a good thing. It can break many things; for example, it can pull in mismatching dependencies, flaws in the program, and bugs. Basically, avoid taking a distro and choose a graphical desktop from a testing repository.

The best thing that I think that you can do, is to revert the changes that you inflicted upon your system. To do that, use yum like this:

$ yum history
Then, select the ID of the install of the new GNOME from the Rawhide repository.
$ yum history undo [ID]
The next best thing to do (still more dangerous than the last one), is to install the rawhide repo completely and not selectively choose packages. This is second on my list because Rawhide is not super stable, but since you said it was for testing purposing, you might want to:
$ fedup --network rawhide --nogpgcheck --instrepo
or, using yum
$ yum install fedora-release-rawhide yum-utils
$ yum-config-manager --disable fedora updates updates-testing
$ yum-config-manager --enable rawhide
$ yum update yum
$ yum --releasever=rawhide distro-sync --nogpgcheck

The word you want is "cherrypick," not "nitpick." HTH, HAND.
