i installed fedora 20 on virtual box i want to install game "superstar streetz" i downloaded from website and its format is .exe The problem is below :

when i open mozilla, click on download icon, and click on show all downloadsm library opens, and i can see the game, if i double click the game, an "Archive Manager" opens with an error "An error occured while loading the archive"

if i right click it and choose open containing folder, then a window open and i can see the downloaded game, i right click it and hover over open with, there are two options available, "Wine windows program loader" and "Q4Wine"

When i choose Q4Wine, it says "Cannot find or execute the 'wineserver' binary....." when i click ok to close the error, then wizard starts and in step3 of 8 it ask for "wine server" with browse option available and "wine libs (32 bit)" and "wine libs (64 bit)" and browse option available for these too. i don't know what to do.

when i choose "Wine windows program loader" then something starts and then nothing happens.

please help

First, check if you have wineserver installed. Execute this command: rpm -qa|grep wineserver; echo $?

If output is 1, then execute:

su -c "yum erase wine; yum autoremove; yum install wine" #Put in root password as it asks you

If output is 0, then execute:

yum reinstall wineserver

Then, run:

wine $HOME/Desktop/super.exe #NOTE THE ALL CAPS IN $HOME

It should work, I think the problem was the wineserver.

Ok, where did you save the file? And to get to command line, search for 'Terminal' or 'Konsole'. Move the file to a folder where you can remeber, and post output here, please. HAND

i found the terminal. i opened it and i see "[sadiq@localhost ~]$ " without inverted commas. i typed after this "wine $Home/Desktop/super.exe" without inverted commas. Is that right? i moved the file to desktop and renamed it to super like in windows. i got this when i hit enter in next line "wine: could not exec wineserver" without inverted commas.

Does the game work in Windows? If so, play it there; if not, there's probably something wrong with the game.

Isn't that more of a workaround which should be posted as a comment?

@hello, I considered that but decided that it worked better as an answer because it demonstrates that Linux doesn't need to be part of either the problem or the solution.

True... ok accepted. +1

And, and as @sadiq said, his windows doesn't "work". So, this answer might not have much use. :)

Oh, maybe you should learn some linux basics first. First question is why are u installing Fedora on Virtual box and then try playing Windows game. Play it straight in Wins ;)

there is some problem in windows.

Does the game fail in Windows (If so, there's your answer.) or is Windows not working? If the latter, we might, at least, be able to point you in the right direction, but in either case, we need details.
