mysql and oracle database are entirely different products that probably have different installation procedures. Also, it doesn't appear that you have attempted to do any kind of reading for yourself about this; that's not a good way to learn, and it's not a good way to get the best results from Ask Fedora. Please be more specific about what you want to do, what you have already done, and what problems you've encountered using existing documentation.

In my opinion, MariaDB is a better version of MySQL itself. It incorporates the good features of MySQL, and removes the not-so-good features. To install and run:

yum install mariadb && systemctl start mariadb

If you already have a MySQL up and running, consider this command:

sudo yum erase mysql; sudo yum erase mariadb; sudo yum clean all; sudo yum autoremove; sudo yum install mariadb

It will remove MySQL, remove MariaDB (just for cleaning up, this is optional), clean the repositories, autoremove orphaned packages, and finally reinstall MariaDB. This will pose as a fresh install, all components of MySQL will be safely removed. As described in the comments, this command has worked successfully for one person, so it should work for everyone!

Sorry, typo, try mysqld instead of mysql. Edited.

Which Fedora version are you running? On Fedora 20 you have to install MariaDB instead of MySQL: - install: yum install mariadb mariadb-server - start: systemctl start mariadb.service - autostart: systemctl enable mariadb.service
