Unknown ssh connection timeout

Hi folks,

I'm not sure what's going on with my ssh, but I am unable to connect to it from outside my router. My local ip is 10.0.0.10 and I can ssh into that just fine. I restarted the router yesterday, reinstalled openssh, and even tried the public IP address to no avail. I also disabled the firewall (in Fedora) to see if that was messing with it.

The odd thing is it worked once and then after that connection timeout. Are there any other tests I can do to see what's wrong with my router?

It is entirely possible that your router is not allowing traffic from inside your network to pass out and back in through your public IP address.

Check your router's firewall to ensure it's forwarding the port correctly and test it with something that's outside of your LAN - a mobile phone with a data connection (not on your WIFI or connected to your network in some other way). I use that to test these kinds of connections.

You shouldn't have to reinstall openssh every time you want to make an ssh connection.

+1. Seems like a router issue. Hardly anything the OS is doing here. Probably a port forwarding issue.

An ssh connection timeout indicates that the client attempted to establish a network socket to the SSH server, but the server failed to respond within the timeout period it can be easily resolved by the following link follow here Error Code 51330 also try to testing other hosts using the same port with a known working SSH server.
