I'm trying to watch some world cup games on espn.go.com . After trying to play a video, I'm prompted to choose my carrier (this is normal). A new tab opens and I get an error message. I get the following error message:

There is an error validating your authentication status. What you can do: Clear your browser cache and cookies and try logging in again. Authentication will not work using incognito/private mode. If your browser is in incognito or private mode, please go to your browser settings and turn it off. If you continue to have problems, contact our Customer Care team at 888-549-ESPN with the error code listed below.

I'd attach a screen shot, but not enough karma yet. This happens on Firefox. In chrome, I get a blank tab instead of an error message.

How is everyone else watching espn on linux?

Additional info: -Chrome and FF both have user agent switchers. Tried a few differnet ones and the same error occurs. -pipelight is isntalled.

I am not sure what is causing the issue. This may happen because they may running Silverlight, which is not provided for Linux, or is can be a DRM issue. The DRM issue is resolved before here. If this didn't solve your problem you may want to check to see if it's Silverlight, which you can find how to solve by searching how to play Netflix on Linux.
