I have recently made up my mind to switch from WINDOWS to LINUX. Hence, downloaded Fedora 20 32 bit. But could not go on with the installation process as I am using only external monitor in my laptop (due to a failure in my laptop's display) and the monitor just goes blank. I attempted several times, but all in vein.

If anybody has the solution please help.

Some laptops have a function key combination to switch between internal and external displays. Have you checked yours for that feature?

Besides the function key on the keyboard, GNOME also provides Super+P to toggle "projector" mode, but that essentially means it will go through disable/clone/primary on the external display. FYI, Super is usually the Windows key.

What model laptop are you using? Some have a bios/uefi option to change the primary display from internal to external.
