Hi all,

I was trying to install fedora 8 on the dell laptop dell inspiron 640M , overwriting the existing Window Vista partitions. The installation seems to complete smoothly, but it was unable to boot up, as it shows missing operating system. From the bootup cd "rescue from installed system", I tried doing fdisk /dev/sda and do command a to the /dev/sda1 as shown below

Device Boot Start End Blocks ID System /dev/sda1 * 1 32 257008+ 83 Linux /dev/sda2 33 14593 116961232+ 8e Linux LVM

When I did a "w" , it shows the below message There are warning: re-reading partition table failed with error 16: device or resource busy the kernel still uses the old table The new table will be used at the next reboot

But it still shows "Missing Operating System".

I tried re-installing a few times, but nothing seem to work. Appreciate any advice that will help.
