gnome screencast sound

I want to record my desktop using the gnome sceencast software (Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r) but I can't hear the output from the microphone, the micropohone is on and it's worinkg.

By definition screencast does not include any sound, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screencast you may want to use some sound recorder at the same time and do some video editing. By the way, microphone is an input device, generally you can not expect "output from the microphone".

Ups, sorry about thr output thing, my mistake, you are right about the definition and sound recorder works just fine with the open (.ogg) format, Thank you very much.
