Is there a way to upgrade Cinnamon desktop on Fedora 20 ? The current version in F20 is cinnamon-session 2.0.5 , you can find it with cinnamon-session --version in terminal.

The current cinnamon version (upstream) is 2.2 where lot of improvements and bug fixes taking place.

I tried with the rawhide repository, but the system didn't work after the reboot. Added the rawhide repo and with sudo yum groups update @Cinnamon Desktop the update was ok, but after a reboot there was no desktop at all. Thank the devs of yum that yum history rollback... command exist and I rolled back to previous transaction and the system is functional again.

Cinnamon 2.2 is still waiting to be pushed to updates-testing for Fedora 20. I would suggest that it's probably best if you just wait a few days for it to appear in the usual repositories.

Don't play with Fedora rawhide unless you know what you're doing. You'll likely end up destroying a perfectly good Fedora system.

Yes, I know what rawhide repo is. The thing is that it was ok with the Cinnamon update (no errors reported), but after the reboot I had no desktop at all. Maybe the packages are in early state or something. I will keep your advice and wait for the official update. Thanks

I accept this answer as correct. I don't see any suggested or more "safe"/harmless way to upgrade Cinnamon in F20. I will wait for the official update.
