Been testing different partitioning schemas for my 250Gb hdd and run into partion size issues wanting the communitys' take on this one before I have to redo it all again in 2 weeks

/boot 1G (includes the LiveCD iso for recovery from bad kernel,etc) / 5G /usr 20G /var 15G swap 6G (2G DDR2 onboard) /tmp 10G /build (android and VM partion) 75G /home delta of the drive ~100G

Well, you can mostly summarize my setup as the default partitioning, because I'm lazy.

  • I don't think separate /usr is supported.
  • /tmp is usually mounted as tmpfs anyway.
  • Not sure what benefit separate /var is, really.
  • /build? I'd just put everything in /home, but that's up to you. Maybe add a different user to keep things separate.
