A good Remote Desktop Connection to my work's server is the last vital piece between me and saying goodbye to Windows...and it's killing me!

The server is on Windows Server 2012, and I can connect without problems using a Windows machine's RDC.

The default Remote Desktop program (Vinagre in disguise?) just fails to do anything at all.

When I use Remmina, the client connects, asks for a password, and, as soon as I enter it (and press enter/click ok) the window disappears - no error message, nothing. Remmina from the command line just pops up the GUI without any interesting terminal chatter, so I tried xfreerdp from terminal and got the following:

[username@localhost ~]$ xfreerdp -u username
connected to
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
[username@localhost ~]$

Every now and then one of these attempts will result in a Gnome error popup that says

A Problem has been Reported
A problem in the freerdp-1.0.2-6.fc20 package has been detected and the diagnostic data has been submitted.

While I'm glad to hear that diagnostic data has been submitted, I'm a little desperate to figure out a working solution so I don't have to Teamviewer into my Windows machine and then RDC from that computer into the work server....

Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried rdesktop? Admittedly, I only used it with Windows XP, but maybe it will work for you.

Edit: It looks like a lot of crashes were fixed in the latest to-be-released version. 1.1 is still in pre-release, but if you can build it, you might be able to use it without crashes.

I have. Unfortunately, the server requires credssp, and rdesktop doesn't support it. Rdesktop recommends just not using credssp, but the server is my work's machine, so I can't make changes to it.
