I am considering installing Fedora, rather than going through the headache of practically rebuilding my computer and then trying to pick, purchase and install windows 7 or 8, or 8.1 for a hefty price tag.

I work online, and my clients will accept work submitted in microsoft word only so there are no formatting issues. Will Fedora work with this program?

I truly appreciate any help.

There is a utility called "wine* used to run Windows, and Office365 is supposed to work from a browser. I haven't tested either, and MS is likely to only support Office on Windows. If you need MS Office for your business, I'd recommend keeping a Windows installation on hand until you can better educate your clients.

Fedora comes with LibreOffice, which can store files in MS Word format. I've used it many times to edit .doc files and send them back to people running Windows and I've never had the slightest problem.

I do not recommend LibreOffice/MSOffice exchange - many times our users were unable to load Microsoft Word documents with LibreOffice (and OpenOffice in the past), especially those with complex macros, coming from administrative institutions. If you need to exchange doc documents - stay either with Microsoft Office or LibreOffice, but don't mix those two.

First "no formatting issues" it's something you cannot achieve even when using different version of Microsoft products (see e.g. http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-20034213-285/formatting-glitch-affects-ms-word-2007-and-2010/ ). Consider running Microsoft Office in PlayOnLinux, install it with https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/41235/are-apple-devices-compatible-with-fedora-os/ and follow the instruction http://askubuntu.com/questions/155809/can-wine-support-office-2007
