I was trying to install Necessitas and it said I have 5.2G of empty space and it needed 7 or so. So I looked into my partition with df -H and it oviously said I had 5.2G of empty space in /dev/mapper/fedora-root.

I had an unused 19.something partition, I formated it and added successfully to the lvm group with vgextend and then I extended the root partition. If I scan with lvscan I can see the +19G.

So, again, I tried the Necessitas installer and got the same error, with the same 5.2G of free space. I executed again df -H and to my surprize, it said 5.2G of free space.

My question is, obviously, where has my 19G of free space had gone? And why I get one thing from lvscan and another from df?

You have extended the logical volume, but the file system also needs to be extended. If you are using an ext2/ext3/ext4 file system, you can do this with

resize2fs /dev/mapper/fedora-root
